Kim, from Brookeville, Maryland, has vaulted to No. 2 nationally in the Scoreboard individual rankings after capturing his second individual title of the fall season. Through five tournaments, the junior owns a 68.87 scoring average, recording under-par rounds in 13 of 15 and 10 scores in the 60s. He leads the Blue Devils with 70 birdies and four eagles this fall.
After opening the season with a runner-up finish at the Rod Myers Invitational (7-under 209), Kim tied a Duke record with a 54-hole total of 197 (-16) to win the Bryan Bros Collegiate on Sept. 29. He followed that performance with another victory at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, posting an 11-under 205 to top a field that included four of the nation’s top five ranked golfers.
Kim entered the season with a career scoring average of 72.01 and three top-five finishes in 25 collegiate events. He has already produced four top-five finishes and two wins this fall alone, helping lead Duke into the national top 25 to close the autumn slate.
Duke’s history with the Haskins Award includes a watch list appearance by Alex Smalley in 2019, and Jason Widener as a finalist in 1990.
