WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s golf team resumes its 2025-26 season with the Puerto Rico Classic starting Monday at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The Boilermakers had a successful fall season, placing in the top six in four of their six tournaments and are looking to become a repeat winner at one of college golf’s most-prestigious events.
Purdue hasn’t played since the Steelwood Collegiate during the last week of October, which concluded a busy fall slate. The Boilermakers played six events in the fall, and will only have four regular-season tournaments this spring. This will be Purdue’s only action until March 22, when it heads to South Carolina for the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
This week’s 15-team field includes four other Big Ten teams as well as the nation’s top-two ranked teams (Virginia and LSU), in addition to six other schools, including Purdue, ranked in the nation’s top 50.

TEAM NOTES
• Purdue continues to avoid the big numbers on its counting team. Purdue’s top six players have accounted for just 27 double-bogeys in 1,728 holes played — an average of one double-bogey every 64.0 holes played. Supapon Amornchaichan has just two double-bogeys in 252 holes played this season.
• Purdue is currently a cumulative 42-under par and has posted the second-, 14th- and 24th-lowest, 54-hole tournament scores in Purdue history. The Boilermakers’ current stroke average of 282.71 is almost four shots per round lower than the school-record number of 286.63 during the 2021-22 season.
• Purdue has shot 280 or better in all three rounds in a tournament seven times in school history. Three of the occurrences have come under head coach Andrew Sapp.
• Five of Purdue’s six regulars have a top-10 finish this season, with four of them boasting a top-5 showing. The lone player without a top-10 finish is Amornchaichan, who placed ninth at last year’s NCAA Championships and leads the team with three top-20 showings.
