PULLMAN, Wash. (February 8, 2026) – Washington State Women’s Golf opens the spring season with the Mountain Classic Matchplay Monday through Wednesday in Palm Desert, Calif.
“We’ve had a great few weeks of practice so far this spring and everyone looked solid during our practice trip to Vegas last week,” Head Coach Kevin Tucker said. “We are excited and ready to start competing again.”
The Course and Tournament Format
The Mountain Classic Match Play will be played at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
The course will play as a par-72 at 6,119 yards.
Each golfer will have a head-to-head match against an opposing team’s golfer each round. Lineups will be selected by head coaches before each match. The Cougars will face Weber State in Monday’s opening round.
Matches will play out through 18 holes, if needed, with no time limit. No extra holes will be played and half points will be awarded if the matches end in a tie. If the team matches end in a tie, the tiebreaker will be determined by the largest margin of victory for all matches combined.

Helm Earns Preseason All-WCC Honors, WSU Picked Fourth
Washington State Women’s Golf freshman Kaitlyn Helm was named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team in a vote by the conference’s coaches, the WCC announced January 29. Helm was one of three freshman named to the 10-member preseason team. The Phoenix native led the Cougars with three Top-15 finishes including a pair of Top-8 finishes in the fall. Helm was atop the leaderboard for most of the Badger Invitational before tying for third highlighted by an opening-round 66, tying the WSU single-round record by a freshman and tied for the second-lowest round by all players in program history.
