Men's Golf Sits in a Tie for 13th Place in Puerto Rico


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men’s golf team finished tied for 13th at the Puerto Rico Classic starting Monday at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico
 
Opening the spring season, the Cardinals totaled a first round score of 285 (-3) to sit in a tie with Wisconsin for 13th place. Virginia sits atop the standings at 22-under par (266) and Ohio State is one shot off the lead heading into Tuesday’s round of 18 holes.
 
The Cardinals were led by Easton Johnson , who was one of two players to finish under par. Johnson is tied for 33rd place after shooting a 2-under-par 70. Brady Smith was the other Card to be under par with his round of 71 to sit in a tie for 45th place.
 
Andrew Tan and Warren Thomis are tied for 59th place at even-par while Cooper Claycomb is tied for 73rd with his score of 74.
 
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday morning on the back nine holes at 7:30 a.m.
