Boilermakers Wrap up Second Round in Puerto Rico – Purdue Boilermakers

RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Purdue men’s golf team posted its second straight team round under par, but fell three spots in the team race after 36 holes at the Puerto Rico Classic.

The Boilermakers shot a 4-under par 284 for a 36-hole total of 9-under par 567 (283-284), but fell to 14^th place after two rounds.

No. 1-ranked Virginia leads the tournament at 35-under par, and is followed by No. 2-ranked LSU (-30), Ohio State (-28), Tennessee (-26) and Oklahoma (-24) in the top five.

Purdue is just five shots out of 11^th place and two shots behind Wisconsin in 13^th place.

Sam Easterbrook recorded a strong round, moving up 15 spots into 10^th place with a 5-under par 67 for a 36-hole tally of 8-under par 136 (69-67).

Supapon Amornchaichan is tied for 52^nd at 1-under par 143 (72-71), while Jenson Forrester is tied for 62^nd at even-par 144 (71-73). Will Harvey (71-75=146) and Kentaro Nanayama (73-73=146) are tied for 73^rd place.

Playing as individuals, Andre Zhu is tied for 46^th (68-73=141) and Yilin Sun is 85^th at 12-over par 156 (80-76).

Purdue will be paired with North Florida and Wisconsin in Wednesday’s final round.
