STANFORD, Calif. — Following a record-setting tournament in The Aloha State, the Stanford men’s golf team returns to action next week, heading to La Quinta, Calif., to take part in the 26th annual The Prestige tournament, hosted by UC Davis. Stanford tees off in the afternoon wave for day one of the three-day tournament on Monday, February 16.
THE COURSE » The Greg Norman Course at PGA West serves as the setting for this season’s installment of The Prestige, playing as a par-72 track that can range from 5,700-7,200 yards in length. This “challenging but fair” course features 68 acres of fine-trimmed turf with marble bunkers and stunning water features that make its patrons step back in time.
Surrounded by the terra cotta mountains, the course features plenty of local flora for a surreal landscape while the course itself poses a challenge for even the most experienced golfers.
THE FIELD » This season’s field consists of nine teams currently ranked in the top-50 nationally with Texas Tech leading the charge at No. 15 entering the week. Following the Red Raiders is No. 25 Wake Forest and jumping seven spots to No. 28 on the list is Stanford. After the Cardinal slots No. 34 Clemson, No. 44 Arkansas-Little Rock, No. 45 Northwestern, No. 46 Colorado, No. 47 Kansas and No. 48 San Diego. Also participating is Oregon, Gonzaga, Oregon State, SMU, Yale, Princeton, UNC-Wilmington, Kansas State, North Alabama, Colorado State, Lipscomb, Iowa State, Washington State, Nevada and hosts UC Davis.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT » The three day, 54-hole tournament will be played in the play five, keep four format with mixed wave starts. Stanford tees off in the afternoon wave on day one from hole 10 while Tuesday’s second round has the Cardinal teeing off in the morning from the first tee. Round three tee times will be available at a later date.
