This Week in Wake Forest Women’s Athletics – Presented by Truist (Feb. 9-15)


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Truist, a longstanding partner of Wake Forest University who is An Official Banking Partner of Wake Forest Athletics and the Presenting Partner of Wake Forest Women’s Athletics brings Deacon Nation this weekly update from the Demon Deacons women’s programs: 

  • Women’s Basketball: 

    • The Wake Forest women’s basketball team clinched a berth to the 2026 ACC Tournament Sunday afternoon.
    • The Demon Deacons grabbed a key 79-65 victory on the road at Boston College Sunday afternoon for their fourth win so far in conference play. Additionally with the other results around the league, the Deacs punched their ticket to postseason play.
    • Wake Forest will begin its tournament run on Tuesday, March 4 and will either be the No. 14 seed, playing against the No. 11 seed in the 4:00 p.m. matchup or the No. 15 seed playing against the No. 10 seed in the 1:30 p.m. matchup. The first round will air on ACC Network.
    • The ACC Tournament runs from March 4-8 and for the first season will be played at GasSouth Arena in Duluth, Ga.

  • Women’s Tennis:

    • Wake Forest completed non-conference play on Sunday with a 4-2 comeback win over App State. With the win, the Demon Deacons improve to 7-1 at home; only two ACC schools have more home wins than the Deacs this season. 

      • After App State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the Deacs quickly responded in singles. Krystal Blanch got the ball rolling with a straight-set victory to give Wake Forest its first point. Evie Oxford and Sankavi Gownder both picked up their eighth singles win of the season; their eight wins are tied for the most on the team. 

    • Wake Forest begins ACC play as the Deacs will head west this weekend, battling No. 18 Stanford on Friday (Feb. 27) and No. 12 Cal on Sunday (March 1). 

  • Women’s Golf: 
  • Track & Field: 

    • Closing out the indoor regular season at the JDL Last Chance Invitational last weekend, the team of senior Elizabeth Whaley, junior Seren Rodgers, sophomore Amy Weybrecht and freshman Natalia Issler set a school record in the women’s DMR, clocking a time of 11:06.15.
    • Earlier in the competition, senior Casey Sullivan placed first in the women’s shot put after registering a distance of 14.44 meters on her final attempt. With the result, the Closter, N.J., native now sits in ninth in program history in the women’s indoor shot put.
    • The Demon Deacons begin postseason action as they travel to Boston for the ACC Indoor…
