Beth Coulter paces the Sun Devils through the first day of the Dr. Donnis Invitational

AIEA, Hawai’i –  Sun Devil Women’s Golf opened the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational with a strong 36-hole day, posting six under par as a team behind standout performances from senior Beth Coulter and freshman Pimpisa Rubrong.

Coulter was the anchor of the Sun Devils’ first round, carding a two under 69 with five birdies to pace the team and set the standard early. The veteran kept it rolling in Round 2, adding a one under 70 to close out a solid day one.

Rubrong was the team’s low scorer in Round 2, firing a three under 68 to finish the day on a high note. Across 36 holes, the freshman recorded 10 birdies and an eagle.

History at the Dr. Donnis Invitational
It is the 40th edition of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, with the Sun Devils last competing at the event during the 2023-24 season. Coach Farr-Kaye’s team swept both the team and individual titles back in the 2024 edition. Then ranked No. 16 in the country, Sun Devil Women’s Golf earned dominating victory at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. Arizona State (-42/822) proved they were in a different class compared to the rest of the field. In addition to the team title, Ashley Menne (-14/202) also took home Individual Medalist honors. 

Patience is needed with one starter out
The Sun Devils will be without 2025 second-team All-American Patience Rhodes until at least April due to a leg injury suffered over the holiday break. The junior from England has posted nine top-10 finishes and finished in the top 15 at the 2025 NCAA Championships and competed at the 2024 Curtis Cup and the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She has January rankings of No. 19 (NCAA Scoreboard) and No. 17 (WAGR).
