The Arizona Women’s Golf team opened play at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate on Monday at Colonial Country Club, finishing the first day at 32-over par and in 12th place after 36 holes.
Leading the way for the Wildcats was Nena Wongthanavimok, who sits at 7-over after rounds of 75 and 74. Wongthanavimok highlighted her day with a strong second round that featured three birdies, including a pair on the front nine, as she improved by three shots from her opening round.
Charlotte Back and Kinsley Ni are tied just behind at 8-over overall. Back followed her opening-round 75 with a 77 in the afternoon, recording multiple birdies across both rounds. Ni carded rounds of 76 and 74, bouncing back in round two with a steady performance that included 14 pars on the back nine.
Maria Cabanillas posted an 11-over total for the day with rounds of 76 and 79. Sara Vitasek finished the day at 12-over after rounds of 78 and 78, while Julia Misemer, competing as an individual, sits at 16-over through two rounds.
The Wildcats will look to make a move up the leaderboard in Tuesday’s final round as they return to Colonial Country Club.
