Sandhu, Roscich Lead Men's Golf To Lead In Augusta


North Carolina’s Sihan Sandhu is tied for third at 9 under par while Grant Roscich shot 65 over the opening 18 holes to lead the Tar Heels to a four-stroke lead after two rounds Saturday in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
 
Sandhu carded rounds of 68-67 for a 135 total, three strokes behind the individual leader, JD Culbreth (67-65) of Georgia.
 
Roscich’s 65 tied the best college round of his career and led UNC to an opening-round 18-under 270, which gave UNC a three-shot advantage over LSU. The Tar Heels shot 12-under 276 in the afternoon round for a 36-hole total of 30-under-par 546.
 
Oklahoma State and Notre Dame shot 22 and 18 under par, respectively, in the second round to pull within four strokes of the Tar Heels headed to Sunday’s final round.
 
Sandhu made 10 birdies and only one bogey over the 36 holes. Roscich made seven birdies without a blemish in the first round, was 3 over par after just two holes to begin the afternoon session, but rallied for four consecutive birdies, finished with a 71 and is tied for sixth place at 8-under 136.
 
Carolina’s Niall Sheils Donegan (69-68) is tied for 12th at 7-under 137, Carson Bertagnole (68-7) is third for 22nd at 5-under 139 and Andrew Riley (71-70) is tied for 33rd at 3-under 141.
