Taishi Moto Picks Up a Top Three Finish at The Western Intercollegiate


With the final round complete at the Western Intercollegiate, the Arizona Wildcats men’s golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at 6-under par overall, closing out a strong week of competition.

Leading the way once again for Arizona was Taishi Moto, who capped off an outstanding tournament at 9-under par after a final-round 67 (-3). Moto finished just one shot shy of the co-winners who finished at 10-under par. 

Connor Hamm delivered one of the best rounds of the day for the Wildcats, firing a 67(-3) to make a big jump and finish at 2-over par overall. Tianyi Xiong added a solid closing round of 69 (-1), finishing the tournament at 2-under. He finished tied for 15th.

William Wistrand battled to a final-round 71 (+1) to finish at 10-over for the week, while defending champion Filip Jakubcik posted a 72 (+2) and ended the tournament at 5-over overall. Zach Pollo rounded out the Wildcats’ scoring with a 75 (+3), finishing the week at even par.

This concludes the final event of the regular season. The Big 12 Championship will take place on Monday, April 27th and finish on Wednesday, April 29th.
