Cards Advance to Match Play at 2026 ACC Championship


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men’s golf team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Golf Championships by finishing in seventh place Saturday at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City, Beach, Fla.

No. 7-seed Louisville will face No. 2-seed Virginia in tomorrow’s match play quarterfinals with tee times starting at 8:20 a.m.

The Cardinals finished at 2-over-par for the tournament, shooting an 866 (290-283=293) to advance for the first time in program history.

Warren Thomis shot a final round score of 73 to finish in a tie for eight place during stroke play. For the tournament, the native of Richmond, Ky., shot a 4-under-par, carding rounds of 72-67-73. Brady Smith tied for 22nd overall by finishing with a 2-over-par 218. He closed Saturday by shooting an even-par 72.

Cooper Claycomb finished in a tie for 36th place after he carded a 221 for the three-day event, ending Saturday with a 75. Andrew Tan moved up three positions to 50th after he shot a 1-ver-par 73 to end with  223.

Easton Johnson rounded out the top five by finishing at 8-over-par.
