Women's Golf hits the road for the Stanford Regional

TEMPE – Sun Devil Women’s Golf is set to compete in the Stanford Regional at the Stanford Golf Course located in Stanford, Calif. from May 11-13 to open the NCAA Tournament.

This is the 33rd-consecutive year that Sun Devil Women’s Golf has qualified for a regional, doing so every time since the format was instituted, having not missed a NCAA postseason since 1991. Monday’s action will mark the 42nd NCAA appearance overall for the program.

All three days of the regional will be streamed live on BabyGrandeGolf.com, via a paid subscription.

Championship on the line
Each regional will feature 12 teams and six individuals, and a total of 30 teams will advance to the tournament championship, which is slated for May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The top two individuals (12 total) from non-qualifying teams from each regional will also advance to the championship.

Big 12 honors

Arizona State landed three individuals on the All-Big 12 Team, which was good for the most selections for any team in the conference. Patience RhodesFai Rubrong, and Paula Schulz-Hanssen were the trio recognized for their performance this season season. This is the sixth-consecutive year that at least two Sun Devils have received all-conference nods, and is the sixth time in the Missy Farr-Kaye era that ASU has had three or more honorees.

The Sun Devils took home two of the four major yearly awards in the Big 12 to round out the conference awards. Patience Rhodes received Big 12 Player of the Year honors, which was selected by the coaches and solidified her as a top player in the conference. Additionally, Fai Rubrong was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Rhodes is the sixth Sun Devil to win a conference Player of the Year award, and is the first since Monica Vaughn accomplished the feat en route to winning the 2017 National Championship. 

Last time out 
Sun Devil Women’s Golf finished tied for fourth in the leaderboards at the Big 12 Championship at Dallas Athletic Club to close out the month of April.
