STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford women’s golf secured its spot in the 2026 NCAA Championship by winning the NCAA Stanford Regional. The final round concluded on Wednesday at Stanford Golf Course, with the Cardinal breaking its own women’s course team scoring record in the process.
The first group to tee off, featuring Stanford, No. 11 Pepperdine, and Oregon State, featured little drama in terms of their team positioning on the leaderboard. Pepperdine held onto second while Oregon State, which entered as the ninth seed in the regional, finished third. Both WCC schools advance for the third time in the last four years.
The final two spots came down to teams 4-6 on the leaderboard, all of which were playing together. No. 22 Arizona State pulled ahead late in the round to finish fourth, with the final spot going to Missouri. No. 13 Vanderbilt shot 13-over on the day to slide out of fourth, missing the cut and finishing sixth.
On the individual side, Emma Bunch of New Mexico State advances to the NCAA Championship, shooting 6-under for the week as the highest individual score in the field.
While the final spots for the NCAA Championship were on the line, four Stanford Cardinal were jockeying for an individual victory. At one point on the back nine, Paula Martín Sampedro, Andrea Revuelta, Kelly Xu, and Meja Örtengren were all within one stroke of each other, with Martín Sampedro sitting atop the leaderboard. This happened thanks in part to all five in the Stanford lineup knocking down birdie putts on 12.
As it came down to the final holes, however, it became Revuelta’s to lose. The sophomore from Spain seemed to get better as the round went on, after starting 2-under through 11. She then ripped off three birdies over the next four holes (12-15), moving her into the solo lead after shooting Xu, Örtengren, and Martín Sampedro.
Taking a one-stroke lead onto 18, Revuelta locked it up with an incredible finish. She landed in the bunker after her second shot, but that did not spell disaster. She holed out from the bunker, with an incredible chip-shot that landed in the hole to finish with her second consecutive 65 (-6), finishing at 12-under over the week, an impressive turnaround after finishing even at par following Monday’s opening round.
Revuelta becomes the second Cardinal all-time to win multiple NCAA Regionals, joining Rachel Heck, who did so in 2021 and 2024. It was also her fourth collegiate win, tying her with Martín Sampedro and Mariah…
