NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (September 9, 2024) – Sophomore Alice Johansson fired a four-under second-round 68 to move into a tie for third after two rounds at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by Kentucky Monday.
The three-round 2024 Bettie Lou Evans Invitational is hosted by the University of Kentucky at Champion Trace at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky. and plays as a par-72 at 6,261 yards.
WSU finished day two in eighth place (+25) after shaving five strokes Sunday’s first round team total. The Cougars are one stroke behind seventh-place Missouri and three strokes behind sixth-place Indiana. TCU leads the 11-team field at +7.
Johansson tallied six birdies to tie for the lowest second round among the 69-player field, an eight-shot improvement from her opening round and enters Tuesday’s final round in a tie for third. Senior Sarah Skovgaard Bils recorded three birdies to post a 74 +2) for the second straight day while senior Madelyn Gamble added two birdies to finish day two tied for 23rd. Sophomore Sara Pineros and freshman Grace Rubelsky each produced improved round with Rubelsky improving six shots from Sunday’s opening round.
Tuesday’s final round will have a shotgun start at 6 a.m. (PT).
