CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Illinois women’s golf finished the first day of the Cavalier Regional Preview tied for eighth after carding team totals of 302 (+18) and 294 (+10) in rounds one and two.
Victoria Zheng posted rounds of 73 (+2) and 72 (E) to finish the day tied for 16th. Zheng tallied four birdies over 36 holes and tallied the sixth lowest scoring average on par 3s (2.90, -1). The Markham, Ontario, Canada, native also recorded 27 pars, tied for second most among the field.
Yurang Li is tied for 27th after firing rounds of 74 (+3) and 73 (+2). Li amassed a team-high six birdies during the day.
Brielle Mapanao ended the day tied for 33rd thanks to an even par second round (71) after her opening round of 78 (+7).
Lexanne Halama is tied for 54th following rounds of 77 (+7) and 78 (+7) and Anna Ritter is tied for 63rd with rounds of 81 (+10) and 78 (+7).
North Carolina holds the team lead at 19-under (549), with the Tar Heel’s Inez Ng holds the individual lead at 8-under (134).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action in tomorrow, with third and final round tee times beginning at 7 a.m. CT.
