WILMETTE, Ill. – Illinois women’s golf ended the first day of the Windy City Collegiate Classic in 13th place after carding a first round total of 306 (+18). Play during the second round was halted due to darkness, with a handful of groups still on the course.
Victoria Zheng posted an opening round 72 (E), rolling home three birdies, and was 1-over through 15 during the second round. Zheng is currently ninth, seeking a third-straight top-20 finish and a second top 10.
Yurang Li is tied for 41st, having so far moved 20 spots up the leaderboard by shooting even-par through 15 in her second round, bouncing back from an opening round 79 (+7).
Brielle Mapanao ended the day tied for 48th with rounds of 74 (+2) and 78 (+6). Mapanao tallied three birdies in her opening round, going bogey-free on the front nine.
Lexanne Halama is tied for 70th following rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7) and Anna Ritter is tied for 72nd after her rounds of 82 (+10) and 79 (+7).
Erica Lee, competing as an individual, is tied for 62nd after posting rounds of 80 (+8) and 76 (+4).
Arizona State holds the team lead at 3-over (579), with Southern California’s Jasmine Koo holding the individual lead at 9-under (135).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action in tomorrow, with third and final round tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT.
