Bears Hit Stride In Round Two

Cal Improves Throughout Day 1 Of The Molly, Settles In 3rd Place

SEASIDE – Playing 36 holes on the first day of the Molly Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course on Monday, the California women’s golf team shot up the leaderboard in the afternoon thanks to a 1-over-par 289 second-round team score.

The Golden Bears ended the day in fourth place at 14-over, just three strokes shy of second-place San Francisco. Cal’s 1-over in round two was the second-best score out of 11 teams.

With the Bears’ entire roster in action, it was once again Constance Fouillet (71-73) who posted the team’s lowest score. The sophomore continued her strong start to the year with another top-10 day, opening at 1-under through the first 18 holes. It was her third par or better round in four tries to open the season. Fouillet finished the day with an even-par 144 to tie for eighth-place individually.

Junior Adora Liu (76-71 | 147) shook off a slow start to shoot 1-under over the last 18 holes of the day. That tied for the third-best individual mark in the field in round two and moved her up to 16th place heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Senior Jieming Yang (T20, 76-73 | 149) was the third Bear to end the day in the top 20. Following one stroke behind Yang in 23rd place were senior Kaylyn Noh (78-72 | 150) and junior Olivia Lee (74-76 | 150).

Lee was one of three Bears competing as an individual, alongside freshman Marie-Agnes Fischer (T31, 76-76 | 152) and junior Anna Molloy (52, 77-80 | 157).

Cal will tee off Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. PT with another shotgun start.
