STANFORD, Calif. – USC women’s golf remained consistently in second throughout, as freshman Jasmine Koo is tied for second individually after the first round of play at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday, Oct. 18, at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.

The Trojans are second amongst a field of 19 teams, including eight top-25 teams, as they counted a 68-69-71-72 (280, -4) on day one. Hosting team Stanford leads the tournament at 11-under par.

Koo entered her third career tournament and is staying the course, as she followed an individual title at the Windy City Collegiate with a round that puts her tied for second. Koo carded a 68 (-3) and is two back of the lead held by Stanford’s Megha Ganne. The freshman recorded five birdies to two bogeys as she picked up her third round in the 60s this season.

Junior Catherine Park and sophomore Bailey Shoemaker were second and third on the squad, as they are both within the top 25. Park is tied for seventh as she is two-under par, and Shoemaker is tied for 23rd at even par. Park was even par through the front nine and had a run to start the back nine with three birdies before she bogeyed No. 17 and finished with a 34 (-2). Shoemaker started strong with a 31 (-4) on the front and finished with a 40 (+4) on the back nine.
