ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Vanderbilt men’s golf junior Wells Williams is tied for third place on the player leaderboard after two rounds of play at the 2024 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.

Williams carded 3-under 69 for the second straight round on the Lakeside Course at the Golf Club of Georgia on Saturday. The junior heads into Sunday’s finale in a tie for third place with Virginia’s Josh Duangmanee and UCLA’s Omar Morales, as all three golfers sit at 6-under 138. The West Point, Mississippi, native currently holds the second-best par-4 score in the tournament at 5-under, while his nine birdies collected through two rounds ties him for the team lead with senior Jackson Van Paris.

The No. 5-ranked Commodores concluded Round 2 of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate at 2-over 290. Vanderbilt heads into Sunday in a tie for sixth place on the team leaderboard with Clemson with a 36-hole total of 1-under 575.

“Obviously, proud of Wells and how he did a great job staying patient today and allowing his round to kind of take shape,” said Vanderbilt men’s golf head coach Scott Limbaugh. “That was big for him and for us.  Also, Chase and Ryan did a great job getting us going early in the round, and I’m proud of how each of them battled all day. We had a chance to have a good round but didn’t quite finish as strong as we would’ve liked. I know we are learning a lot about ourselves each time out, and it always comes down to being able to have the right type of focus on the right things. We are doing it a lot of the time, but we have to get more consistent in order to be the team we know we can be.”

UCLA leads the field at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate after two days of play with a team score of 16-under 560. Charlotte’s Caden Baker sits in first place on the player leaderboard at 11-under 133 and holds a three-stroke lead over the field.

Round 3 of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate gets underway Sunday at 7:30 a.m. CT. Vanderbilt tees off from the first tee box between 8:25-9:09 a.m. CT. Fans can follow all of the action at the 2024 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate via live results via Scoreboard Live powered by Clippd.

“I’m excited to see us compete on our final day of the fall season tomorrow,” Limbaugh stated. “It is an important day for our team, and we need to embrace it. We have what it takes to go out and play our best round of the week and take some pride in finishing to our standard.”
