Men’s Golf | February 04, 2025

TUSCSON, Ariz. – Senior Gavin Aurilia earned his fourth top-25 finish this season, tying for 22nd; Freshman Jaden Dumdumaya also tied for 22nd, bringing home his first top-25 finish of the season. The Trojans wrapped up the tournament in tenth out of 14 teams with a one-over par final round to make them 11-under par (284 + 280 + 289 = 853) on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Omni Tucson National Resort.

USC scored 72-72-72-73 (289) in the final round, which put them one over par and dropped them three spots on the final day. No. 36 BYU won the tournament at 50-under par.

“It’s our first time at this event for this team. We didn’t maximize our opportunities and let our expectations supersede our preparation and execution,” head coach Mark Hankins said. “It’s a learning opportunity and we’ve identified some areas that we can improve on for Southern Highlands.”

Aurilia finished the tournament with a three-under-par (69) second round and an even-par third round (72), putting him at five-under par overall. The second round marked his fifth round in the 60s this season. Overall, the senior had a pretty spread-out tournament, earning 14 birdies and eight bogeys. Tying him was Dumdumaya, who was five-under par (67) in the second round and ended up even-par in the third round (72), putting him at five-under par overall. In his second start of the season, the freshman concluded his time in Arizona with a 72-67-72 with 12 birdies and seven bogeys.

“Another solid tournament for Jaden and Gavin. I believe Jaden had his personal best with a second round 67 (-5) and both posted respectable (-5) totals this week,” Hankins said.

Sophomore Nicolas Dominguez tied for 46th in Arizona, finishing one-over-par. The sophomore produced 13 birdies and seven bogeys in his return to the starting lineup.

Junior Antonio Safa and Sophomore Jack Jerge tied for 52nd in the tournament. Both players were two-over-par overall, as Safa was even-par on the final day, while Jerge was one-over-par. Overall, Safa had nine birdies and 10 bogeys, while Jerge finished with 12 birdies and eight bogeys.

USC men’s golf will return to the green at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Sunday, Mar. 2, through Tuesday, Mar. 4, in Las Vegas, NV.
