Hill Ties for Sixth at Puerto Rico Classic


RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – Tennessee men’s golfer Josh Hill tied for sixth place at the Puerto Rico Classic after a career-low 54-hole showing.
 
The junior shot 10-under overall with three under-par rounds including a pair of 68s in rounds one and two.  Additionally, Hill now has five career top-10 showings. 
 
As a team, Tennessee concluded the Puerto Rico Classic with an eighth-place finish after shooting 19-under through three rounds. The Vols 10-under team score in the final round tied for the third-lowest team score in the field on Wednesday.
 
Lance Simpson was UT’s second-highest finisher after tying for 22nd. The redshirt junior fired a 2-under 70 on the final day to get to 5-under overall for the event. Simpson now has four top-25 finishes on the season along with a team-leading13 rounds of par or lower.
 
Freshman Jackson Herrington finished the tournament in red numbers after posting three rounds of par or better. The Dickson, Tennessee, native shot a final-round 70 to tie for 31st at 3-under overall.
 
Evan Woosley-Reed bounced back nicely on day three with a 70 to shoot 1-under for the tournament and tie for 40th.
 
Freshman Kai Komulainen, who competed individually, also tied for 40th place after shooting a 73 on Wednesday.
 
Bruce Murphy closed the tournament with a 72 and tied for 55th.
