TEE OFF

The Florida women’s golf team plays its third tournament of the spring this weekend at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational (Feb. 21-23).

THE FIELD 

Boston College, Daytona State, Delaware, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, FAU, Florida, Mercer, South Dakota State, Tulane, UAB, UNC-Greensboro, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky and Wofford. 

LAST TIME OUT

Paula Francisco led the Gators to a 5th place finish at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, marking sixth top-5 finish of the season, adding to three wins and a pair of 4th place outings to start the fall season.  

Francisco secured a T6 outing at 1-under 212, marking her third straight top-13 (T3 & T13). She was one of only six golfers to finish under-par across 54-holes. The sophomore shot back-to-back rounds of under par with a 2-under 69 in the final round, her seventh of the season.

FALL RECAP

Florida closed out the first leg of the season with back-to-back victories, including defending its team title at The Ally. The Gators shot a final round of 6-under to end 15-under for a six shot victory over host Mississippi State. The victory is also the 33rd all-time under head coach Emily Glaser; 34th total as she was an assistant coach for a season in 2011-12. 

Redshirt-freshman Addison Klonowski led UF with a stroke average of 71.0 and finished T18 or better in all three stroke play events. She also had a team-high six rounds and two tournaments under par. 

Seven Gators had a T20 finish or better in the fall season with freshman Elaine Widjaja and Klonowski finishing top-25 in all three three stroke play tournaments. 

BIG 3, YEAR 2

The true freshmen trio of Inès Archer, Paula Fransico and Sophie Stevens all put together strong seasons to begin their collegiate careers. 

All earned SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week honors as Archer earned a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team. Florida’s freshman trio totaled 23 (out of 55) appearances in the lineup,…
