Olivia Lovegrove earned a top-20 individual finish for the Nebraska women’s golf team at the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., March 2-4.
Lovegrove, a freshman out of Lincoln Christian High School, finished 19th at 223 (+7) while competing as an individual outside the Husker lineup. Lovegrove opened with a 71 (-1) on Sunday, before closing with a round of 73 (+1) on Tuesday on the 6,345-yard layout of The Preserve Golf Club at Saddlebrooke.
Hannah Kono and Danica Lundgren both added top-30 individual finishes to lead the Huskers to a ninth-place finish. Kono, a sophomore from Enkoping, Sweden, tied for 28th with a three-round total of 225 (+9), while Lundgren, a freshman from Austin, Texas, tied for 30th at 226 (+10).
Senior Miu Takahashi and sophomore Arden Louchheim tied for 42nd at 228 (+12), while Andrea Velez rounded out Nebraska’s lineup with a tie for 58th at 233 (+17).
As a team, Nebraska finished with a three-round total of 905 (+41). The hosts from Kansas State won the team title at 868 (+4) behind individual medalist Carla Bernat’s 205 (-11). Arizona claimed runner-up honors at 878 (+14), 10 shots behind the Wildcats, while TCU took third at 879 (+15). Oklahoma finished fourth at 885 (+21), and Wisconsin rounded out the top five at 894 (+30).
The Huskers return to action at the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Fla., March 17-18.
