Women’s Golf Central: Tennessee Spring Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women’s golf team is set to tee off at home in its final event of the regular season, hosting the Tennessee Spring Challenge. 

The tournament consists of 36 holes with both rounds taking place Monday.

Last time out, the Lady Vols placed fourth at the Clemson Invitational where they posted a 19-under total. The 54-hole score marked the second-best three-round total in relation to par in program history.

The event, which is in its first year of existence, is set to be played at Fox Den Country Club. The course includes eight water features and 52 strategically-placed bunkers.

Kyra Van Kan was once again UT’s highest finisher after tying for 10th with a 7-under total.

THE LADY VOLS’ LINEUP

Kyra Van Kan

In her last two starts, Van Kan finished second and tied for 10th respectively and earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after both performances.

Manassanan Chotikabhukkana

The junior is coming off her 14th career top 25 finish after shooting 6-under overall with three rounds of par or lower at the Clemson Invitational.

Martina Lopez-Lanchares

Lopez-Lanchares finished inside the top 25 in her last two starts. At the Clemson Invitational, the sophomore shot 5-under overall, including a career-best 65 in round one.

Sofie Engeseth

Engeseth enters the Tennessee Spring Challenge with a 73.93 average along with a pair of top-25 finishes this season.

Isabella Johnson

The true freshman makes her way back into the lineup for the final regular season event. Johnson, who arrived on Rocky Top this spring, tied for 23rd at the Daniel Island Invitational in February.

THE LADY VOLS’ INDIVIDUALS

Bailey Davis

The senior holds 10 career top-25 finishes, four of which came this season.

Sophie Christopher

The Germantown, Tennessee, native is set to make her spring debut after recording a 74.78 average in the fall.

Sophie Bierstorfer

Bierstorfer is also making her spring debut and currently holds a 75.00 season average.
