Women's Golf Finishes Day One in Third at Georgia


University of Missouri women’s golf finished the first day tied for third at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.

Junior Melanie Walker led the Tigers through the first round, finishing the first 18 with a three-under 69 in first-place individually. She closed the second round with a four-over 76 to remain in the top-5 after day one with an overall score of +1.

Overall, five Tigers finished day one inside the top-30 individually, with three in the top-15. Jade Zamora carded a 149 (77-72) on the day to finish five-over in 13th. Just behind her were Ffion Tynan in 15th with a 150 (73-77), Alexandra Berglund in 26th with a 151 (77-74) and Addie Dobson in 30th with a 152 (73-79).

In a field that includes three ranked teams, Mizzou closed the day tied for third of 12 teams with No. 48 Alabama at +19 and ahead of No. 34 Oklahoma. No. 35 Georgia Southern leads after 36 holes at +5.

The final round in Athens starts Wednesday with tee times at 7:30 a.m. CT.
