Driver
Titleist TS3
Interestingly Cantlay had been using the Titleist 917D2 driver for a while and was one of the few staffers who didn’t switch to the newer TS models when they came out. However he has switched to the TS3 (opens in new tab) as you can see above. It has 9.5 degrees of loft and is fitted with a Mistubishi Diamana shaft.
When we tested the TS3 it provided speed from the first shot and the adjustability options are good if you want to tweak things like dispersion or loft. It also looks great too because it maintains that classic, traditional and very Titleist-like look down behind the ball. The color has reverted to glossy black compared to the dark grey of the 917 and the design of the fulcrum has switched around. It will be interesting to see if Cantlay decides to switch to the newer TSi or TSR models in the coming months.
Fairway
Titleist 915F, Titleist TS2
Like many other professionals, Cantlay very rarely changes his fairway wood slot in the bag because it is such a hard club to get right. As such he continues to use a Titleist 915F model which first showed up on Tour back in June 2014.
Back then, the feature that raised some eyebrows was the Active Recoil Channel (ARC). It was a slot cut into the sole of the club which was said to allow more flex at impact. This was designed to increase ball speed on thin shots and reduce spin for a lower flight.
He then carries a Titleist TS2 five-wood with 21 degrees of loft although he has shown he likes carrying a hybrid with this loft as well so we think…
