Streicher's 68 Leads UNC To Top Of Leader Board At Landfall


North Carolina senior Megan Streicher fired a 4-under 68 and Reagan Southerland shot 71 to lead the Tar Heels to 4-under-par second round on Saturday to take a three-stroke lead into the final day of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington.
 
Carolina (288-284) is 4-under 572 through 36 holes. UCF is second at 1-under 575, SMU is third at even par and Duke, Kentucky and Wake Forest are tied for fourth at 7 over par, 11 shots behind the Tar Heels.
 
Streicher followed an opening-round with five birdies and an eagle en route to a 68, which equaled the second-best round of the day. She is in second place at 6-under 138, four shots behind Kent State’s Veronika Kedronova (69-65, 10-under 134).
 
Streicher’s 68 and Southerland’s 71 were among only 12 sub-par rounds today in the field of 96 players.
 
Marie Prats-Rigual (71-72) shot even-par today and is tied for seventh at 1-under 143, Helen Yeung (73-73) is tied for 22nd at 2-over 146 and Southerland (76-71) is 3-over 147.
 
The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday.
