KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Entering her second season as Tennessee’s head women’s golf coach, Diana Cantú announced the Lady Vols’ 2022-23 schedule Monday.
The regular season consists of nine tournaments, with five being held in the fall and four in the spring. The SEC Championship, held in Birmingham, Alabama, is scheduled from April 12-16 to commence postseason competition.
“I am looking forward to this season’s tournament schedule. We are playing in top events throughout the entire year,” Cantú said. “This schedule is strong in its entirety and will challenge us every time we tee up. The goal is to play with and against the best.”
Of the fall tournaments, four of the five are scheduled as two-day, 54-hole events.
For the fourth time in five seasons, the Lady Vols will kick off the fall slate at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina, from September 12-13.
A week later, Tennessee will host the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship from September 19-20. Last season, the tournament marked the Lady Vols’ best team finish as they placed sixth out of the 17 teams in attendance.
From October 10-11, UT will make its second appearance in program history at the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah, hosted by Illinois.
The Lady Vols will compete at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by North Carolina at the Governor’s Club in Raleigh, North Carolina, running October 17-18.
The last weekend of October, Tennessee concludes the fall portion of the season with a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina, to play in the Landfall Tradition, hosted by UNCW.
Tennessee’s spring schedule features five tournaments, including the SEC Championship.
In the spring, UT will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico, to compete in the Cavalier/AMFG hosted by Virginia, running February 5-6. It marks the Lady Vols’ first competition outside of the United States since 2019.
The last week of February, the Lady Vols return to Houston, Texas, for the ICON Invitational, where LVFL Mikayla Bardwell finished tied for sixth place with a 54-hole score of -7 (209) last season.
Tennessee travels to the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona, from March 10-12. The event is hosted by Notre Dame at Longbow Golf Club.
To wrap up the regular season, UT returns to the Clemson Invitational, running March 24-26. Last season, two Lady Vols, Kayla Holden and Mikayla Bardwell, recorded top-20 finishes at the event.
