Men’s Golf Set to Tee Off in Fall Opener


COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Men’s Golf team is back in action this weekend to kick off their 2022-23 season at their annually hosted Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate event in upstate New York beginning Sunday, Sept. 4. The competitive slate includes 11 teams: Boston College, Delaware, George Mason, Louisiana, Missouri, Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara, Sacred Heart, Stetson, St. Francis, Towson.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start on Sunday, Sept. 4.  Sunday will feature 36 holes of continuous play, followed by Monday’s final 18 holes of competition.

INDIVIDUAL: Dawson Meek

Sioux Falls native Jack Lundinr kicks off his junior year in the headline spot of the Mizzou lineup. He competed in all six events last year: four in the regular season and two in the postseason. Last season Ludinr went on a three consecutive event run of carding under-par 54-hole event scores and placing in the top-15: Auburn Tiger Invitational, Hootie at Bulls Bay, and MU Tiger Invitational.

Senior Charlie Crockett is slotted second for the Tigers. Crockett helped the Tigers to their third team title last season at the Hootie at Bulls Bay event after firing all three rounds under-par to finish with a 7-under 209 and claim a share of fifth place and his first career top-5 finish.

Representing the team in the third spot is freshman Alfons Bondesson. The newcomer Bondesson is the 10th best amateur in all of Sweden, as well as first in the U18 age group and third in the U21 range. Going beyond the borders, he is ranked No. 511 in the world according to World Amateur Golf Rankings. His talent was no doubt put on display in June when he clinched the 2021 Swedish Junior Championship (U21) title, after carding three of four rounds of par or better to finish 5-under-par.
