Robert MacIntyre What’s In The Bag?
One of the most prominent rising stars in European golf is Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre (opens in new tab) who, after a series of close finishes at the 2019 Betfred British Masters, Made in Denmark, and Porsche European Open, finally got into the winner’s circle for the first time on the European Tour in 2020. His victory came at the Cyprus Showdown at Aphrodite Hills thanks to four birdies over the final six holes. Let’s take a look inside the youngster’s bag.
Robert MacIntyre What’s In The Bag?
Driver
TaylorMade SIM2 Max
At the top of the bag MacIntyre carries a TaylorMade SIM2 Max driver (opens in new tab) with nine degrees of loft. MacIntyre has been using the SIM2 Max for a while now and interestingly hasn’t switched into the new Stealth models. In our TaylorMade SIM2 drivers review, we noticed that the SIM2 Max produced a noticeably higher flight than SIM2, which along with the extra spin will be well received by those who struggle to flight their tee shots or don’t spin the ball enough. In terms of changes vs the original SIM, the SIM2s have a darker carbon fibre section on top, which we found to contrast more sharply with the white front section to better assist with alignment.
Fairways
TaylorMade Stealth Plus
He has however switched to the newer Stealth range in the fairway wood section of the bag. MacIntyre uses two Stealth Plus models with 15 and 19 degrees of loft. Rory McIlroy (opens in new tab) and Tiger Woods (opens in new tab) have both put this model into play which is no surprise given it is designed for Tour players and proficient ball-strikers. The overall footprint of the club is quite small, especially when compared with the regular Stealth model. There is no red face here unlike the driver but we thought the re-engineered 80g soleplate was a nice touch and improved turf interaction.
