KNOXVILLE, TN – Junior Patricie Mackova finished at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship with her second top-10 performance Tuesday. Maryland came in ninth as a team at 14 over par.
Mackova posted an overall score of 209 (69-72-67), which was four strokes under par. She was fourth in the field in par-4 scoring with a stroke average of 3.86 (-4) and one of 11 players with at least one eagle made during the event. The Czech Republic native was fifth in the field in par-5 scoring with an average of 4.60 (-6).
The Team
Freshman Nicha Kanpai of Chiang Rai, Thailand, finished in a four-way tie for 21st, posting (71-72-71) (+1). She also was one of 11 players alongside her teammate to make an eagle.
Sophomore Panassaya Somchit finished in a three-way tie for 44th (76-71-74) (+8).
Senior Maria Vittoria Corbi finished in a six-way tie for 47th (77-74-71) (+9).
Freshman AnPhi Le of Fredrick, Md, finished in a solo 76th, posting (84-79-78) (+28).
Maryland played the par-71 – 5,930-yard Cherokee Country Club, designed by Donald Ross, over the two-day, 54-hole event.

“We played a very difficult golf course well today and turned in the fifth lowest score of the day. Mackova’s top-10 performance led the way and kept us in the middle of the pack. This was a premier field and we made some huge strides as a team. I think the momentum from today will help us next week at Ohio State!”
