East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s women’s golf completed the final day of play at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,442-yard Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Ill.
The 15-team field included 11 teams ranked among the top-40 in the country by Golfstat.
Southern California (No. 21) shot a 3-over par 867 and topped the field by nine shots. South Carolina (No. 4) finished in second at 12-over par 876, with Oregon (No. 7) third at 17-over par 881 and Arizona State and Duke (No. 10) tied for fourth place at 27-over par 891.
Michigan State placed 15th of 15 teams at 58-over par 922 (320-302-300).
Sophomore Brooke Biermann was the top finisher for MSU, tying for 45th place at 13-over par 229, while classmate Katie Lu was one shot back and finished in a tie for 47th place at 14-over par 230.
Fifth year Valery Plata shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round and tied for 51st place at 15-over par 231.
Freshman Paula Balanzetegui tied for 65th place at 19-over par 235 and sophomore Shannon Kennedy tied for 73rd place at 23-over par 239.
The Spartans are back on the course at the Tar Heel Invitational in North Carolina on Oct. 17-18.
