Women’s Golf Returns to Action at Mississippi State


Back in action for the first time in three weeks, the Missouri women’s golf team heads to Mississippi for the The Ally, hosted by conference rival Mississippi State

TOURNAMENT INFO

Mizzou is one of 11 schools set to compete at Old Waverly Golf Club with the action beginning on Monday. Joining the Tigers on the course are No. 3 and hosts Mississippi State, No. 7 Ole Miss, No. 30 SMU, No. 42 Alabama, Chattanooga, Illinois, Indiana, James Madison, Mercer and Old Dominion.

The Old Waverly Golf Club is a par-72 course that plays 6,413 yards long in West Point, Mississippi.

The stroke-play tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday before wrapping up with 18 holes on Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUT

In their first action of the 2022-23 campaign, the Tigers claimed their eighth-straight title at their home tournament by winning the Johnie Imes Invitational on Sept. 28. Mizzou entered the final round trailing by four strokes but a strong finish led to an 11-storke victory with a +13 score of 877.

Emily Staples led the Tigers by placing third overall with a score of 217 and was closely trailed by teammate Sophia Yoemans, who finished one stroke behind and fourth overall with a 218.

LAST YEAR AT THE ALLY

The Tigers are making a return trip to The Ally after placing 12th as a team one season ago. Yoemans led Mizzou by placing 23rd overall with a score of 219. Staples also competed for the Tigers and carded a score of 233.

UP NEXT

The Tigers are back in action in less than one weeks time, competing at the Jim West Challenge in San Marco, Texas, hosted by Texas State. The tournament begins on Sunday, Oct. 23 and wraps up one day later.
