COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Haskins Foundation announced Julia Lopez Ramirez to the ANNIKA Award Watch List on Monday via GolfWeek and Golf Channel. Lopez Ramirez is the third Bulldog to be placed on the watchlist, joining Jessica Peng and Ally McDonald in 2015.
The ANNIKA Award Watch List recognizes players who have set themselves apart as frontrunners in women’s college golf over the past two and a half months. The ANNIKA Award honors the most outstanding female collegiate golfer of the year, as selected by college golfers, coaches and members of the college golf media. The players selected onto the ANNIKA Award Watch List were selected by a panel of GolfWeek and Golf Channel reporters.
Julia Lopez Ramirez has had a very successful fall season encore to her SEC Freshman of the Year play in 2021-2022. In her first event this fall, the Carmel Cup, Lopez Ramirez shined on the final day, securing her 11th round in the 60s with 3-under (69). Lopez Ramirez rolled in the fifth most birdies throughout the tournament with 11 to finish tied for fourth.
In the Mason Rudolph Championship, Lopez Ramirez led the Bulldogs to capture the 2022 team title. In the final round. Lopez Ramirez was just 1-under on the day through 13 holes but played the last five holes at 5-under to record her 11th Round in the 60s in the Maroon and White (4-under, 66). The All-American, who eagled the par-5 14th hole and after a par on the 15th, finished her round with three consecutive birdies to secure her ninth top-five finish, tying for fourth.
Lopez Ramirez captured the fourth individual title of her career in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Lopez Ramirez paced the field from start to finish in her victory as she never dropped below second throughout the event. In the opening round, Lopez Ramirez broke the women’s records for Blessings Golf Club Course Record and Blessings Collegiate Invitational’s lowest round (65, 7-under par). In the final round, Lopez Ramirez delivered her 13th round in the 60s, carding a 6-under par 66. Throughout the event, Lopez Ramirez sunk 19 birdies, most of the event.
