Alabama’s Nick Dunlap Competes Among Nation’s Top Amateurs at the East-West Matches at Maridoe Golf Club


CARROLLTON, Texas – Alabama men’s golfer Nick Dunlap will begin play alongside 36 of the nation’s best amateurs at the second edition of the East-West Matches at Maridoe Golf Club. This weekend’s three-day event, which will be held Friday through Sunday, features a Ryder Cup-style format on the par 72, 7,351-yard Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.

Dunlap will compete with the East team in what will be his second consecutive appearance in the event, which divides teams up evenly with the Mississippi River serving as the border.

Tee times begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday and 8:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Nick Dunlap Season-Career Highlights

  • One of 12 players in the 36-man event that will be making a second appearance
  • Currently ranked individually as the No. 33 player in the nation according to Golfstat.com and No. 41 by Golfweek
  • Earned top-20 finishes in all four events of the Tide’s fall 2022 tournaments, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Rod Myers Invitational
  • His 70.00 per round average and -1.00 average vs. par leads the team and ranks ninth in the SEC
  • Leads the team with seven of his 12 rounds in the 60s and eight at par or better on the year
  • Named the 2021 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Boys Golfer of the Year
  • Earned medalist honors at the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, which was held in Pinehurst, N.C.
  • With that win, he became the first-ever Alabama native to win the historic event and by doing so, he earned an Amateur exemption to compete in the 2022 U.S. Open
  • Won the 2022 U.S. Boys Junior Championship individual title
