Three Future Demon Deacons Sign for 2023


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Wake Forest men’s golf program announced the signing of three future Demon Deacons during National Signing Day on Wednesday.

“The 2023 class has been carefully assembled and we could not be any more excited,” head coach Jerry Haas said. “We are bringing in three fabulous young men to the program that is filled with experience.”

With the three signees, the Deacs added some of the best international talent in the class while also signing the top player in the state of North Carolina for the 2023.

Marco Florioli | Bergamo, Italy

  • Will be the first Italian player in program history

  • Has been the highest ranked junior in Europe for the last few years in his junior career

  • Ranked as high as No. 295 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings

  • Claimed the 2022 Italian Amateur Match Play – Giuseppe Silva Trophy

  • Participated in the 2022 Amateur Championship and European Amateur Championship

  • Placed third in the 2022 English Boys’ Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship

  • Victorious at the 2022 Italian U18 Trofeo Silvio Marazza and the Mattone d’Oro with Lorenzi Group
  • Helped lead Italy to it’s first ever World Amateur title in 2022

Kyle Haas | Winston Salem, N.C.

  • No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina for the 2023 class

  • Winner at the AJGA Sam Burns Classic at The Landings Club

  • 10th Jimmy Creed Junior Boys Invitational Champion, hosted by Camden Country Club

  • Placed Third at the Bobby Chapman at Spartanburg Country Club

  • Tied for seventh at the 2022 North & South – Boys Championship

  • Totaled 11 top-25 finished in 2022 alone

Tom Haberer | Bad Salzdetfurth, Germany

  • Led the German national boys team to consecutive European team championship victories. 

  • Represented Europe in matches against Great Britain and Ireland

  • 2021 German National Boys Championship while finishing third in the event in 2022

  • Finished as the runner up at the ​​2022 German National Amateur after finishing ninth in 2021

  • Claimed a fifth place finish at 2022 German Match Play

  • Runner-up at the 2021 Golfsportmanufaktur Schäfflertanz Intl. Open
