Padraig Harrington is fresh off his first full year on the PGA Champions Tour and has some wisdom to impart on us weekend warriors.
The three-time major champ might not always do things the conventional way, and that’s no different with his advice for when you’re faced with an uphill putt.
Harrington explains in this tweet, that he likes to practice by stopping the putter at impact when he needs to make an effort to get a putt to the hole.
If you struggle to get your putts to the hole especially uphill try “stopping your putter at impact”. Believe it or not this will lead to a nice rap/tap on the ball with great energy transfer. #PaddysGolfTips on YouTube

He goes on to say that when you want to hit a putt hard, it can have the opposite effect, making you scared you’re going to race the ball past the hole.

As well as that, he says that ideally, your stroke should be slightly shorter on the follow through than on the backswing.
More of Harrington’s tips can be found on his YouTube channel, where he runs the series Paddy’s Golf Tips. You can get stuck into that here.
