LOS ANGELES – The No. 22 UCLA women’s golf team won four out of six matches in its first round against No. 21 USC in the Battle for the Bell at Sherwood Country Club on Wednesday. The Bruins and Trojans will finish their match play tournament tomorrow at Rolling Hills Country Club.

Day One Results
Caroline Canales won 2 UP over Malia Nam
Annabel Wilson and Amari Avery TIED
Alessia Nobilio won 3&2 over Brianna Navarrosa
Phoebe Yue lost 2 DOWN to Catherine Park
Yuki Yoshihara won 2&1 over Christine Wang
Zoe Antoinette Campos won 1 UP over Xin (Cindy) Lou
Four out of the six matches went a full 18 holes.
Canales was one up going into the 18th hole before pulling out the 2-up victory.
Wilson battled back after trailing three down to halve her match with Avery. Wilson won the 18th with a bogey.
Campos trailed one going into the 17th before recording a birdie save out of the back bunker on the green. Campos proceeded to win the 17th and 18th to win her matc over Lou.
Scoring System
Each match victory is worth one point. If the match is tied after 18 holes of play, the point will be halved. The team with the most points after two days of play will be the winner. If there is a tie in points, the winner will be determined by the total number of holes won over the two days of play.
