USC Women's Golf Trailing After Battle For The Bell First Day

Freshman Catherine Park posted a 2-up victory while sophomore Amari Avery halved her match as the USC women’s golf team finds itself in need of a rally after the first day of the debut rivalry match-up with UCLA — dubbed Battle for the Bell — on Wednesday (Feb. 1) at Sherwood C.C.

USC trails 4.5-1.5 after play in Thousand Oaks today and will look for a comeback Thursday (Feb. 2) at Rolling Hills C.C. when the second day of six matches begins at 7:45 a.m.

Park, who was down a hole through 10 today, rallied to defeat UCLA’s Phoebe Yue. Avery earned a half point as Annabel Wilson squared the match late.

The Trojans were on the wrong end of the other four close matches.

Xin (Cindy) Kou fell 1 down to Zoe Campos while Christine Wang dropped her match to Yuki Yoshihara, 2&1. Malia Nam lost her match to Caroline Canales, 2 down and Brianna Navarrosa fell to Alessia Nobilio, 3&2.
