GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Manassanan Chotikabhukkana led Tennessee’s women’s golf team through the opening 27 holes of the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club on Sunday. The freshman is tied for fourth place at even par ahead of tomorrow’s final round and a half.
The opening round and the first nine holes of round two were played Sunday, and the rest of the second round and all of round three will continue Monday.
Chotikabhukkana started the first round strong, shooting -2 on the front nine and +1 on the back nine to card a 71, the eighth round of par or better in her young Tennessee career. The Bangkok, Thailand, native is +1 (even par overall) and tied for fourth place through the first nine holes of round two.
In her inaugural round as a Lady Vol, Angela Arora notched three birdies on the front nine to post a 75 (+3). The freshman is -1 (+2 overall) and tied for 11th place with nine holes to go in the second round. Vanessa Gilly shot even par on the opening nine holes to notch a 75 in round one. The junior is currently +2 (+5 overall) and tied for 20th place through the front nine of round two.
Bailey Davis shot +8 (80) in the first round and is +1 (+9 overall) halfway through the second round. The sophomore is tied for 43rd place ahead of the final 27 holes. Junior Kayla Holden posted an 83 (+11) in round one, and through the opening nine holes of round two, is tied for 55th place at +3 (+14 overall).
The Lady Vols concluded round one in sixth place at +13 (301) out of the 12-team field, and are currently tied for fifth place at +16 overall with a round and a half to go.
