This week on the PGA Tour is the highly anticipated Waste Management Phoenix Open, hosted at TPC Scottsdale. This is the first full-field designated event of 2023 and sees the purse shoot up to $20 million. Additionally there are 136 players in the field as opposed to the usual 132.
Eight of the world’s top-10 golfers are all in the field including Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Arizona State alum, Jon Rahm, who has won four os his last six starts combined on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. Patrick Cantlay returns after a playoff loss to Scheffler last season, as do Shane Lowry and Collin Morikawa who didn’t play in the event the last two years.
