Deacs Take 14-Stroke Lead into Final Round of Nexus Collegiate

New Providence, Bahamas – The Wake Forest women’s golf team made some overnight adjustments to improve from an eight-stroke deficit in the first round to a 14-stroke lead to end the second round of play at the Nexus Collegiate.

Senior Lauren Walsh led the Deacs, and the entire field, with the lowest round of the day. She carded a five-under 67 en route to the second-place spot on the individual leaderboard. She will enter the final round just two strokes off the individual leader. The Ireland native started the day on a high note with two birdies in her first three holes. She recorded two more before eagling the par-five, 515-yard 15th hole. Wake Forest is the only school in the field to have two players record a birdie in the first two rounds.

Rachel Kuehn is just a stroke behind Walsh on the board, heading into the final round two under par and in a tie for third place. After a single bogey and eight pars on her first nine holes, Kuehn picked it up immediately after the turn with a birdie on the 10th. She birdied two of her final three holes to finish the day two under and sits at one under for the event. Kuehn currently leads all players on par fours, going four under on the eight par fours.

Mimi Rhodes remains inside the top five, in solo fifth after her second 18 holes. After finishing day one in a tie for the lead at one under, she finished the second day at one over to be even for the event. Two birdies on holes eight and 10 had her up, but the England native finished the day with a double bogey on 18. She heads into the final round four strokes off the lead. Rhodes currently leads all players on par threes, going one under on the five par threes.

Carolina Chacarra jumped 15 spots on the leaderboard in the second round to finish inside the top 10 heading into the final day. She recorded a team-high five birdies on the second day but ended the day two under par and three over for the event.

Emilia Migliaccio remains in the top 25 at T25 and eight over for the day. She finished her second round three over. Playing as individuals, Caroline Smith is T41 and Anne-Sterre den Dunnen is 50th heading into the final round.
