STARKVILLE – After two phenomenal performances to open up the spring in the UCF Challenge and The Show, freshman Izzy Pellot has been named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time in her two Spring appearances.
Izzy Pellot picked up where she left off in the UCF Challenge, picking up back-to-back rounds of par or better to open The Show. Pellot led the Bulldogs throughout the first day, remaining in the top five throughout the opening two rounds, rolling in seven birdies. After two rounds, Pellot was leading all Bulldogs in the event.
Heading into the final round, the Bulldogs needed a valiant effort as they were locked in a fierce battle for who was going to take the top spot at The Show. Pellot left no doubt as she picked up her second consecutive top-10 finish, finishing ninth (2-under par) to propel State to their third team victory of the season. Pellot now has five top-20 finishes in seven events played.
This is Pellot’s second career SEC Freshman of the Week honor and is the third Bulldog to earn the honor. Pellot is only the second Bulldog to be named SEC Freshman of the Week twice, with the other being Julia Lopez Ramirez in 2022. Lopez Ramirez was named SEC Freshman of the Week in two consecutive appearances as well.
The No. 7 Bulldogs will return to the course on March 4th and 5th for the 51st Annual Vystar Credit Union Gators Invitational from Gainesville, Fla.
