Freshman Mahanth Chirravuri closed with a final-round 69 while junior Krando Nishiba finished with a 70 as the USC men’s golf team concluded the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale on a high note on Sunday (March 5).
The Trojans finished sixth at 20-over 884 (300-298-286), closing with the low final round at 2-under on a day that started with the finish of the second round.
Nishiba (74-76-70) and sophomore Gavin Aurilia (75-73-72) registered as USC’s low players, tying for 15th at 4-over, season bests for us. After wrapping his second round with two birdies, Nishiba kept the momentum going with one of his best rounds of the season — the 69 matched his saeson-best — to post his best finish this season.
Chirravuri, who entered the tournament as USC’s hottest golfer, tied for 35th at 9-over 225 (78-78-69), closing strong thanks to a stretch of four birdies over five holes between 13 and 17. It marked his fifth round in the 60s this season and the fourth in his last seven rounds.
Sophomore Jackson Rivera (74-74-75) tied for 28th at 7-over 223 while senior Jack Boulger (77-75-77) tied for 52nd at 13-over 229.
