Florida Tied for Fourth at Valspar Augusta Invitational


AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Florida women’s golf team is tied for fourth after 36 holes at the Valspar Augusta Invitational on Saturday. 

The Gator used its second lowest round of the season, a 280 (-8), in the first round to trail No. 2 and leader Wake Forest by a stroke. The Demon Deacons pushed ahead and lead the field by 11 strokes at 13-under with Florida  tied with Ole Miss at 1-over. 

A duo of Annabell Fuller and Jackie Lucena both turned in no rounds over par on day one. Lucena tied for the third lowest round among the field with a 68 (-4) in the first set of 18. She was in the solo lead throughout the day and turned in a 72 (E) to close the day in 5th 

Fuller carded rounds of 70-71 and highlighted her performance with 4-under on the back in round two with five birdies. The senior owns a team-leading nine under par rounds and is T6.

Maisie Filler was the second Gator to have a 68 (-4) in round one, marking her third straight low round after back-to-back in her runner-up finish last weekend. She is right outside the top-25 in T30.

The rest of the lineup features Taylor Roberts tied for 36th, Marina Escobar T65 and Karoline Tuttle (I) in T49..

The final round is set for shotgun start at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
