UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s golf finish tied for first place with Minnesota after finishing with an 8-under 352 team score at the one-day Sea Island Shootout played at the Sea Island Golf Club’s Plantation Course. Rutgers finished third with a 356 to round out the field.
Sophomore Jake Griffin paced the 20-player field as he fired a 6-under 66 to finish atop the standings by one stroke. Senior Patrick Sheehan carded a 3-under 69 to finish tied for fifth, while freshman Jack Zubkus shot a 2-under 70 to come in tied for seventh. Senior Jimmy Meyers finished with an even par 72.
Junior James Allen carded a 3-over 75 and freshman Billy Pabst had a 76 to round out the Penn State participants.
The Nittany Lions are back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island at the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course.
