DURHAM – With the Duke men’s and women’s golf programs in the middle of the 2023 spring seasons, the Birdies for Babies program is nearing the $15,000-mark in earnings for the 2022-23 campaign. Following the last events, the program has brought in $14,348.50 to benefit the Duke Children’s Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
Over the six seasons since Birdies for Babies was established, the program has brought in over $100,000 and continues to make a difference at the Duke Children’s Hospital.
Those looking to support Duke’s partnership with Duke Children’s can make pledges per birdie. Pledges will start at $0.50 and high pledge increments are welcome. If the Blue Devils register an eagle (counts as two birdies), albatross (three birdies) and hole-in-one (four birdies) they will count as stated.
Two regular season events remain for the men’s team as the Blue Devils will compete in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational March 27-28 in Palm Beach, Fla., followed by the Stitch Intercollegiate April 7-8. The women’s team will have Erica Shepherd, Phoebe Brinker and Anne Chen represent the Blue Devils in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur March 29 through April 1 and then close the regular season at the Wolfpack Match Play April 3-4 in Raleigh, N.C.
