No. 16 MSU, Endicott Tied For Second Going Into Final Round

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – No. 16 Mississippi State will head into the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship tied for second alongside No. 14 Tennessee. Both teams sit 17 strokes back from host No. 1 Vanderbilt.

The Bulldogs are 10-under through 36 holes after shooting 6-under as a team in the second round. State’s six golfers combined for 23 birdies for the day.

“I am pleased by how we handled the day,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “I thought our guys really battled hard and handled adversity throughout the round. We were a little sluggish on the front [nine] but we did a nice job on the back, staying patient and letting the round come to us. We need to make sure we continue doing the simple things well. We didn’t do a good enough job on the front nine executing the simple shots.”

Garrett Endicott sits in a six-way tie for the runner-up spot going into the final round of the regular season. He sank seven birdies on his way to shooting 4-under 67, recording his eighth round in the 60s for the season. The freshman made three consecutive birdies on holes No. 4-6 and then went back-to-back on the Nos. 13 and 14 holes.

Ruan Pretorius sits in a tie for eighth with North Florida’s Davis Lee and Vanderbilt’s Cole Sherwood. The graduate also shot 4-under 67 with three pairs of back-to-back birdies for the day. He is shooting 5-under through 36 played.

Alejandro Pedryc is in a four-way tie for 21st, shooting even going into round three.

Ford Clegg and Pedro Cruz Silva are part of a five-way tie for 25th. Both players shot pairs of back-to-back birdies, combining for seven in the round. Hunter Logan is tied for 39th.

Logan will tee off first for Mississippi State at 9:40 a.m. CT followed by Clegg, Pedryc, Pretorius and Endicott in 10-minute increments. Cruz Silva will tee off at 10:03 a.m. CT with the individual pairings.

“We are excited for our last regular season round tomorrow,” Smith added. “We need to continue to build off the momentum we have.”
