Women’s Golf, Lopez Ramirez Ranked in the Top-10 by GolfStat

STARKVILLE – Golfstat, the leading ranking system in collegiate golf, announced their top 25 rankings on Tuesday. Following their impressive performance at the SEC Championship, Mississippi State is ranked sixth in the country.

Golfstat uses Relative Rankings to calculate their rankings each week. Relative Rankings compare each team, one-on-one, against every other team in the country. A percentage value is applied to every one of those decisions. MSU clocks in with a 266/271 comparative record (tied with No. 5 Auburn and No. 7 Texas A&M) against the field for a 91.40% relative percentage. The Bulldogs also hold a 16/21 comparative record against the current top 25.

Mississippi State is one of seven schools currently ranked inside the top 25 with three or more tournament wins this season. The Bulldogs went back-to-back in the Mason Rudolph Championship and Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Most recently, State captured the team title at The Show in Las Vegas to end their February schedule.

Looking around the Southeastern Conference, the Bulldogs are joined by fellow members LSU (3rd) South Carolina (4th), and Texas A&M (7th) in the Top 10.

In the Semifinals of SEC Match Play, Mississippi State defeated t the No. 3 ranked Tigers. The trio of Surapa Janthamunee (SJ), Abbey Daniel and Levi brought it home for the Bulldogs. Levi continued her strong play from the quarterfinals with another elite performance, winning 5&4. SJ won by a score of 2UP (meaning she won by two strokes, but they still played the 18th hole), while Daniel won by a score of 1UP (meaning she won by a single stroke).
